    Description The graduate school VERBUND.NRW
    focuses on the evaluation and further development of the composite materials value chain in the construction sector. The group is comprised of 11 doctoral students who together process the
    scientific issues within the fields of
    technology, sociology and economics.
    VERBUND.NRW as a graduate school
    features a high-grade inter- and transdisciplinary orientation. That is why numerous stakeholders from industry and society are integrated into the research groups work.

    The graduate positions are limited in time to maximal the schools run time and should be filled by 10 October 2016,
    01 January 2017 at the latest. The compensation follows TVL13.

    Dissertationtopic 4:
    Environmental Regulation of Composite Materials in an International Perspective
    Scientific lead: Prof. Dr. Oliver Lorz
    Research Unit International Economics

    Objective:
    This dissertation topic deals with the economic implications of environmental regulations to improve resource efficiency. In particular, it focuses on questions related to international production and trade of composite materials.

    Tasks
    - Overview over the international markets for composite materials and over existing environmental regulations and standards
    - Development of a theoretical model to explain the effects of national measures to improve resource efficiency on production and trade with composite materials
    - Empirical test of the model and formulation of political recommendations.
    Requirements - University degree (master or equivalent) in economics or a related subject
    - Interest in international and environmental research questions and a sound knowledge in microeconomics
    - Independent, structured, analytical approach to work, distinct communications skills and capacity for teamwork and a high degree of personal initiative
    - Very good English and German skills and handling of common computer applications (Microsoft Office)
    - Excitement and enthusiasm for the field of compound materials
    - Flexibility and high willingness to travel
    - Qualification for scientific work and publishing

    Furthermore
    - active organization and contribution of seminars, workshops and conventions
    - work shadowing in companies and institutes of the graduate school, as well as
    - intense technical exchange with other graduates in VERBUND.NRW
    are expected.
